AusBiotech is pleased to announce that Expressions of Interest to join our influential NSW, QLD, SA, VIC, and WA State Committees are now open.
Our State Committees are a vital part of AusBiotech's national network — they provide local insights, foster strong community connections, and help ensure our advocacy and initiatives are grounded in the real-world needs of our members across Australia.
"This is a fantastic chance to help shape our advocacy, events, and state priorities — and play a pivotal role in connecting our national ecosystem," says Dr Robyn Lindner, AusBiotech Director of State and Committee Engagement. Dr Lindner's is a new role designed to strategically elevate and unify member voices across AusBiotech's State Committees and Advisory Groups.
NSW Leadership Committee Chair Lis Boyce (Piper Alderman Partner), says serving on a State Committee provides an opportunity to collaborate with your peers to bring AusBiotech's national strategy to life at a state level.
"We're well supported by the AusBiotech team so that our investment of time in Committee activities is efficient," Lis says. "There's a genuine 2-way flow of information and ideas between the State committee and the national team. This enriches AusBiotech's communications with federal and state governments, elevates the voice of members and ensures that important knowledge is shared."
SA Chair Matthew Palmer (Accelagen Chief Growth and Commercial Officer) says being part of a State Committee is a great way to help support the sector and bring the needs of the local ecosystem to the national AusBiotech program.
"It is fantastic to be part of the initiatives that are emanating from AusBiotech and to help tailor the activities in each state; whether it be celebrating local victories, providing tailored education/briefings, networking or enhancing investment into the sector," Palmer adds.
"It also provides a conduit for linking in local and federal government initiatives with the needs of the sector and to enhance the visibility to key stakeholders on the needs and activities crucial for growth."
WA Chair Paul Anderson (Orthocell CEO and Managing Director) echoes these sentiments, saying he's found his involvement empowering on several fronts.
"The ability to interact at a higher level with all state members has enhanced my collaborative opportunities," he explains. "The ability to assist in helping local members better understand what it is that AusBiotech does and has to offer to the broader life sciences community has been beneficial for the organisation, its members and for me personally.
"The State Committees are well supported by AusBiotech with ideas, concerns, issues and possibilities all taken on board and put into an Australia-wide forum for discussion."
Participation in AusBiotech's State Committees is voluntary, with up to 12 diverse, skilled individuals per state serving two-year terms. You must be a member of AusBiotech to join our Committees or Advisory Groups.
We invite you to register your interest until 30 April — don't miss your chance to be involved. Submit your Expression of Interest here.
It's also important to note that AusBiotech will be refreshing our advisory groups at a later date.
