Aussie Leaders Join U.S. For Leadership Dialogue

Department of Defence

Today I am travelling to the United States for the Australian American Leadership Dialogue from 8 - 12 July.

The Australian American Leadership Dialogue is an annual event that contributes to the enduring relationship between the United States and Australia.

At the Dialogue, I will be engaging with national security and strategic policy leaders and discussing our longstanding commitment to regional stability, investing in our partnerships and deepening security cooperation along with our cooperation through AUKUS.

I also look forward to discussions on our pathways to achieve net zero by 2050.

Ahead of the Dialogue, I will visit Dallas-Fort Worth and meet with defence industry representatives.

In addition, I will be holding meetings with members of Congress and the United States Department of Veteran Affairs. This will provide a valuable opportunity to discuss the shared issues facing defence personnel and our veterans.

Quotes attributable to the Assistant Minister for Defence, the Hon Matt Thistlethwaite MP:

"The annual Australian American Leadership Dialogue deepens the historic relationship between our two nations"

"The United States is Australia's principal strategic partner and I welcome this opportunity to reinforce that relationship."
