A South Australian man is celebrating a lucky mistake after his accidentally chosen Lotto numbers scored him a division one win in the weekend's Saturday X Lotto draw.
The Whyalla local held one of the nine division one winning entries in Saturday X Lotto draw 4477 on Saturday 15 June 2024. Each division one winning entry pocketed $541,052.71, as the top prize split among a large number of winners.
In addition to the division one prize, the man’s marked System 9 entry also scored division three 18 times, division four 45 times and division six 20 times, bolstering his total prize to $558,816.31.
“I’m great! Better now you’ve called!” he laughed.
“Thank you very much!
“What’s crazy is I put the wrong numbers down when I got my ticket.
“I always use our ages and family birthdays, but I got a few wrong. I’m not sure how but it was a happy accident!
“I’m glad my wife wasn’t there when I picked them because she would’ve let me know I had some wrong!
“When I checked my numbers online, I thought ‘Oh yeah, I have a few of those. That’s great, I’ll get a few hundred hopefully’.
“Later that night, I checked my ticket and realised that some of my numbers were different from what I originally thought. They all matched!
“I couldn’t believe it. Division one! Five hundred and fifty-eight thousand dollars!
“I think I checked the ticket two dozen times. It was 1am so my wife was asleep, and I just had to sit waiting for her to finally wake up!
“I’ve honestly had no sleep for the last couple of days.
“It’s amazing. It’s going to change our lives.”
When asked how he planned to use his newfound fortune, the gleeful man shared he had a few things in mind.
“Well, we don’t want to be silly with it,” he said.
“There are a few things we’d like to do. Perhaps we’ll look at buying a new car and we’ll definitely help our kids.
“In the meantime, we’ll relax and let it sink in!”
The man’s winning ticket was a marked System 9 entry.
The winning numbers in Saturday X Lotto draw 4477 on 15 June 2024 were 34, 40, 12, 23, 36 and 38, while the supplementary numbers were 8 and 30.
Across Australia, there were nine division one winning entries in Saturday X Lotto draw 4477 – three each in Queensland and Victoria, two in New South Wales and one in South Australia.
