The Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA) released regional personal insolvency statistics for the March quarter 2019.
New personal insolvencies fell in most capital cities in the March quarter 2019 compared to the previous quarter. The exception was Greater Darwin.
March quarter 2019 regional personal insolvencies state by state
The Greater Sydney regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Wyong (60), Campbelltown (NSW) (56) and Penrith (53). In the rest of New South Wales, they were Newcastle (46), Tweed Valley (37) and Wagga Wagga (31).
The Greater Melbourne regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Wyndham (65), Frankston (50) and Melton - Bacchus Marsh (45). In the rest of Victoria, they were Geelong (40), Bendigo (29), Ballarat (20) and Wodonga - Alpine (20).
The Greater Brisbane regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Springfield - Redbank (68), North Lakes (55) and Browns Plains (47). In the rest of Queensland, they were Townsville (110), Ormeau - Oxenford (91) and Mackay (63).
The Greater Adelaide regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Salisbury (48), Onkaparinga (47) and Playford (39). In the rest of South Australia, they were Murray and Mallee (39), Limestone Coast (20) and Fleurieu - Kangaroo Island (16).
The Greater Perth regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Wanneroo (87), Swan (65) and Rockingham (64). In the rest of Western Australia, they were Bunbury (33), Albany (24) and Wheat Belt - North (23).
The Greater Hobart region with the highest number of debtors entering personal insolvency was Hobart - North West (21). In the rest of Tasmania, they were Launceston (28), Burnie - Ulverstone (17) and North East (13).
The Greater Darwin regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Palmerston (25) and Darwin Suburbs (20). In the rest of Northern Territory, it was Alice Springs (12).
The Australian Capital Territory regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Tuggeranong (21), Belconnen (19) and Gungahlin (18).
