Australia, ACT Eye Reliable Renewable Energy Future

Dept of Climate Change, Energy, Environment & Water

A Renewable Energy Transformation Agreement (RETA) has been signed between the Australian Government and the ACT Government. This new agreement will secure the ACT's 100% renewable energy future and support Australia's renewable energy transformation.

The RETA commits the governments to work together in support of the national energy transformation.

The agreement will:

  • bolster work underway to electrify homes and businesses across the ACT
  • support Australia's 82% renewable electricity by 2030 target
  • improve community engagement
  • drive better social and economic outcomes.

This agreement with the ACT is the third to be signed, following agreements with SA and WA announced in July 2024.
