Australia Appoints New Ambassador To Serbia

Today I announce the appointment of Mr Peter Truswell as Australia's next Ambassador to the Republic of Serbia.

The Ambassador to Serbia is also accredited to Montenegro and the Republic of North Macedonia.

Australia enjoys positive bilateral relationships with all three countries, underpinned by strong community and cultural ties. Over 210,000 Australians claim ancestry from this region.

We look forward to expanding our trade and investment relationships, including in the mining, mining services and IT sectors.

Mr Truswell is a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and was most recently Director, India Economic Roadmap Taskforce.

He has previously served overseas as Consul-General in Mumbai, Deputy Head of Mission, Australian Embassy, Kabul and had postings in Australia's diplomatic missions in Seoul and the United Nations, Geneva.

I thank outgoing Ambassador Daniel Emery for his contributions to advancing Australia's interests in Serbia since 2021.
