This year's Australia Day Breakfast is set to be one of Playford's biggest events on the 2025 calendar, offering its popular free breakfast and entertainment for the community to enjoy.
The event at Fremont Park, Elizabeth, on Sunday 26 January will be hosted by "South Aussie with Cosi" star, Andrew 'Cosi' Costello and feature entertainment from crowd favourites Humphrey B Bear and Sun of Africa Drumming.
The event will kick-off at 8am and finish at 12pm, with a highlight of the morning being the announcement of Playford's 2025 Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year Awards.
Assisting Mayor Glenn Docherty to present the awards on the day will be Australia Day ambassador and guest speaker Rob Morrison. Mayor Docherty hopes the community will show its support and attend the annual event to recognise this year's awardees.
"It's important for us to contribute to highlighting the hard work and dedication of those making a positive mark in our community, so I am delighted to gather with our whole community to do this on an important day for Australia," Mayor Docherty said.
"Providing a range of opportunities for our community to build connections through important social events is a key part of what we do and the Australia Day Breakfast is one of many annual events which provide a chance to come together.
"The fun morning will also offer free activities for all ages, including carnival rides, face painting, glitter tattoos, Junior Tradies SA and Games 2 U. There is plenty of ways to have fun at this year's event!"
A range of live performances will hit the stage as entertainment throughout the morning, with acts Playford City Band, Phap Hoa Lion Dance, Jordan D'Sena, Juliet Oliver, Emerauld and Heatwave featuring in the lineup.
The Playford Citizen of the Year Award Categories for 2025 are Active Citizenship, Young Active Citizenship, Sports Club of the Year, Community Group or Initiative of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Citizen of the Year.
Playford will also hold a Citizenship Ceremony at the Playford Civic Centre for conferees and their families later that day at the Civic Centre, where 80 residents will be conferred as Australian citizens.
