Congratulations to two members of the NT Police Force named today as recipients of the Australian Police Medal.
Water Police stalwart Detective Senior Constable Christopher Kilian and forensics expert Senior Constable First Class Bindi Burnell have joined an elite group of officers who have excelled in their work throughout their careers.
Senior Constable Kilian is one of the longest-service officers in the NT Police Force, marking his 40th anniversary in 2021.
"Chris's career has seen him in many fields, including Water Police, Drug Squad, General Duties and remote service," Commissioner Jamie Chalker said.
"He is responsible for having saved many lives on land and in the water, and is now imparting his knowledge to younger members of the force who will benefit greatly from Chris's experience."
Senior Constable First Class Bindi Burnell always wanted to be a police officer, ever since she was a little girl growing up in Humpty Doo.
"Forensics isn't something that many people think about when they think about policing, but Bindi's work as Principal Crime Scene Examiner has helped solve many mysteries and brought closure to others," Mr Chalker said.
"On behalf of everyone at NT Police, Fire and Emergency Services, and the wider community, I offer my heartfelt congratulations to both Bindi and Chris, I thank them and their families for their dedication to the community."
