Australia Post Packaging Shines at Midsumma Pride

Australia Post

Australia Post is proud to be supporting Melbourne's premier LGBTQIA+ arts and cultural festival, Midsumma, for another year with the unveiling of a striking fashion creation at the 2025 Midsumma Pride March.

For the past five years, visionary designer and Melbourne drag artist Vin Tagè has led the Pride March for Australia Post, transforming repurposed Australia Post packaging into one-of-a-kind gowns. Each year, Vin Tagè reimagines Australia Post packaging to create new and innovative designs that celebrate diversity while advocating for the LGBTQIA+ community.

This year's gown, crafted using over 500 Australia Post satchels made from 80% recycled plastic, showcases a creative and eco-friendly way to upcycle plastic materials. The intricate design took two weeks to complete, with each satchel carefully integrated to the gown by hand.

Daniel Theophanou, aka Vin Tagè, said, "Australia Post truly gives me the freedom to push my creativity to the limit, which is why I love coming back each year. This year's dress, made from Australia Post's International Express satchels, has a completely unique look and colour scheme compared to past gowns. People are always amazed to see the satchels used in such unexpected ways."

Australia Post Executive General Manager Parcel, Post and eCommerce Services, Gary Starr said this occasion embodies Australia Post's commitment to fostering inclusion and community spirit within the organisation.

"We are incredibly proud of our partnership with Midsumma and has been a great opportunity for our PostPride group and team members to come together in celebration each year."

"This festival reflects our commitment to inclusion and community, both within Australia Post and the wider LGBTQIA+ community. The craftmanship behind Vin Tagè's gown is incredible, and it's a powerful example of how art can celebrate diversity and sustainability", said Mr Starr.

The Australia Post Arts Prize has been a cornerstone of the decade-long partnership with Midsumma, recognising and celebrating the artistic talents within the LGBTQIA+ community. The 2025 Midsumma and Australia Post Art Awards winner was announced as Chris Ferric for their piece titled 'Saint Jo, Scribe of Our Souls'.
