Australia Women's Futsal Team Announces Training Squad

Preparations for the AFC Women's Futsal Asian Cup China 2025™ are ramping up, with Australia Women's National Futsal Team Head Coach Miles Downie selecting a 28-player squad for a five-day training camp in Sydney.

The squad will assemble from Monday, 31 March to Friday, 4 April, as they continue their build-up to the tournament in China later this year.

The squad retains all 14 players who competed in the AFC Women's Futsal Asian Cup™ Qualifiers 2025 in Uzbekistan during January, while integrating 14 new players - strengthening depth and competition within the national team setup.

After finishing top of their group at the Qualifiers where they secured four wins from four matches - including a 6-1 victory over Turkmenistan in their first-ever international match - the squad will use this camp to further develop and hone preparations ahead of Australia's maiden appearance at the tournament.

The AFC Women's Futsal Asian Cup China 2025™ draw, held at the Juva Grand Hotel, China in February, placed Australia in Group A alongside hosts China PR, 2016 runners-up Uzbekistan, and world number 25, Chinese Taipei.

The top three teams at the AFC Women's Futsal Asian Cup China 2025™ will qualify for the inaugural FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup™.

With the Philippines hosting the FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup™ between 21 November and 7 December 2025, Football Australia saw an ideal opportunity to establish a team specifically for this cycle, ensuring a competitive pathway for the women's futsal program.

Australia Women's National Futsal Team Head Coach Miles Downie said: "This training camp is an important step in our preparation for the AFC Women's Futsal Asian Cup. The squad showed great potential in the qualifiers, and this camp will allow us to continue to develop each individual and the collective.

"We've brought together a talented and driven group of players. The focus of this camp is to accelerate their development, continue building our way of playing, and create a competitive environment where everyone pushes each other to improve.

"With a challenging group ahead of us at the Asian Cup, every session we have together is vital. This camp allows us to work on key elements so we can go into the tournament confident in our ability to perform," Downie concluded.
