Australian Foreign Minister To Visit United States 19 August

Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

This week I will travel to Chicago to bolster Australia's trade and investment interests with one of our largest trading partners.

While in Chicago, I plan to meet with my US counterparts, and other senior officials to continue discussions on strengthening trade and investment cooperation including on critical minerals, climate and economic security, IPEF negotiations, and strengthening and reforming the WTO.

I will meet with businesses in the US Midwest who have important links to the Australian economy, to reaffirm the value of working together to leverage the significant opportunities for greater two-way commercial ties.

At the invitation of the National Democratic Institute, I will attend the International Leaders Forum in my capacity as Special Minister of State. This Forum, held in the sidelines of the Democratic National Convention, brings together world leaders, officials and organisations with an interest in protecting our democratic institutions.

The United States is our closest ally, principal security partner, and largest source of foreign investment.

As partners, we are working together to find new areas of cooperation and collaboration to build a region that is peaceful, stable and prosperous.
