The much-loved Australian Musical Theatre Festival will return to Launceston in 2022, following the event's official launch at Launceston's Princess Theatre today.
Scheduled to take place from 18-22 May 2022, the festival offers musical theatre lovers, makers and industry professionals an unparalleled opportunity to get together, share and celebrate the much-loved genre.
This is the third time the Australian Musical Theatre Festival will be held in Launceston, with the event now a key part of the city's cultural events calendar.
The growth of the event over the next few years will see an increase in the number of workshops, participants and audiences, as well as allow the event to expand its footprint across more of the city and include the Inveresk precinct.
The Tasmanian Liberal Government is committed to supporting our dynamic performing arts sector and we are proud to support the event from 2019 -2023 with an investment of $671,000 through Events Tasmania.
The Australian Musical Festival provides an important opportunity to showcase local talent, as well as celebrate the culture and community of Launceston and surrounds and I congratulate the organisers on delivering another exciting program for the 2022 festival.
