The latest Quarterly Update of Australia's National Greenhouse Gas Inventory is now available.
The report estimates Australia's total greenhouse gas emissions in the year to December 2021 were 488.0 million tonnes carbon dioxide equivalent (Mt CO₂-e) - an increase of 0.8% or 4.1 Mt CO₂-e compared to the previous year.
The results reflect
- ongoing reductions in emissions from electricity
- increased emissions from transport, stationary energy (excluding electricity), agriculture and fugitive emissions.
