Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy Josh Wilson said:

"Scientists expect 2024 to surpass last year as the hottest on record, and the impacts of climate change have already resulted in temperature extremes and storms that are more frequent and severe.

"Australia will continue to show leadership on climate action by supporting co-operative efforts to drive down global emissions and combat the worst impacts of climate change.

"Pacific nations are particularly vulnerable to climate change. We want to continue to work together with them and other nations to help deliver global solutions."

COP is the annual summit of all states that are parties to the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
