Painter and photographer John Zhang will be in the Rockdale Library on Saturday 31 August talking about his time photographing the aftermath of the Bosnian War.
This free talk will be given in Mandarin. There will be no translator, however John also speaks English and will be able to answer any questions.
John will discuss his experience of photographing the ruins of the Bosnian War, and talk about his approach to photography and photojournalism.
Born in China, John Zhang graduated from Shandong Light Industry Art School in 1981. He immigrated to Australia in 1990 where he worked in advertising planning and graphic design. He was an editor at Qingdao Economic Times and art editor of Sing Tao Daily (Australia).
His photography is described as an extension of consciousness and thought. Every picture, from the moment it is taken, reveals his personal perspective on the stories of his subjects. The charm of his work is in the emotion behind the pictures.
