For the last thirty years, local historian Barry Cor has meticulously researched the patterns of conflict on the Hawkesbury frontier. His book Surveying the Wild Abyss, a study of the ways in which the history of that conflict has been recorded, lost and recalled, will be published later this year.
On Saturday 3 May at 10.30am, join Hawkesbury Library Service for an insightful talk with Barry Cor. Based on his research, the discussion will focus on the period 1789-1846, looking at the ferocity of the fighting and the violence, and exploring what is and isn't known. There will be time for questions and discussion, followed by light refreshments.
Barry is a Hawkesbury resident who researches and writes about the Hawkesbury's Frontier War from an Aboriginal viewpoint. Working for many years teaching, he remains passionate about Aboriginal education. He took part in the 1965 Freedom Ride and strongly advocates in his writings for the truth of the local frontier wars to be uncovered.
This is a FREE event and will be held at the Central Library at 300 George Street Windsor. Bookings are essential via Eventbrite https://hawkesburylibrary.eventbrite.com.au/ or call the Library on 4560 4460.
