Road crews in Horsham Rural City Council are making the most of stable late summer and autumn weather to enhance our local road network.
From sealing urban streets to upgrading rural routes, here's a rundown of the ongoing projects:
URBAN PROJECTS:
1. Station Street, Natimuk:
- Project: Sealing of the middle section.
- Objective: Improve road surface quality and durability.
2. Fischer Street, Pimpinio:
- Project: Upgrading from a gravel road to an Otta Seal.
- Purpose: Enhance safety and accessibility for residents.
3. Small Street, Horsham:
- Project: Resealing the full length.
- Benefits: Extend the lifespan of the road and enhance surface.
4. Hocking Street, Horsham:
- Project: Reconstruction with drainage and footpaths installed.
- Aim: Create a more pedestrian-friendly environment and better parking access to City Oval.
5. Angling Clubrooms, Horsham:
- Project: Sealing of the carpark.
- Impact: Improved parking facilities for visitors.
6. Nature and Water Play Park, Horsham:
- Project: Sealing of the carpark.
- Enhancement: Better access for families enjoying the park.

Dimboola-Minyip Five Chain Road, Kalkee:
- Project: Reconstruction and widening to 6.2 meters.
- Purpose: Enhance safety and accommodate larger vehicles.
Horsham-Lubeck Road, Lubeck:
- Project: Reconstruction and widening to 6.2 meters.
- Objective: Improve connectivity for rural communities.
Polkemmet Road, Polkemmet:
- Project: Reconstruction and widening to 6.2 meters.
- Impact: Better road conditions for farmers.
Banyena Road, Jung North:
- Project: Shoulder construction work.
- Focus: Strengthening the road infrastructure.
Wail-Dooen Road, Dooen
- Project: Upgrading from a gravel road to an Otta Seal.
- Advantage: Upgraded to all weather surface, less future maintenance need.
Post Easter, the focus will shift to rural road grading and resheeting gravel roads.
