Avenel residents are invited to a community meeting to explore risks facing the township and share their thoughts on how the community can better prepare and recover from future emergencies.
A local steering group has been collaborating with emergency agencies and Strathbogie Shire Council to arrange this event.
"Using emergency event scenarios, we will explore information relating to the local risks in Avenel and how these may impact on individuals and community," Mayor, Cr Laura Binks, said.
"Contribute your ideas for community priorities to prepare for emergencies, and how community can connect to act on those.
"Your input will help to inform a Local Emergency Action Plan for Avenel."
Cr Binks said it was an important project, which had ongoing implications for the welfare of our community.
"I encourage our Avenel community to support the steering group's initiative by attending the community meeting and having your say," she said.
