- Memorandum of understanding and plan of action signed to grow trade opportunities
- Trade with Vietnam worth $2.4 billion to the WA economy in 2022-23
The Western Australian Government has welcomed representatives from Vietnam's B Ra-Vng Tu (BRVT) Province, who are leading a delegation to Western Australia for the first time.
Vietnam is WA's 14th largest trading partner, with $2.4 billion worth of goods traded in 2022-23, including $2 billion of Western Australian agri-food exports to Vietnam.
The BRVT Province is one of the major economic and foreign investment zones in Vietnam with WA companies CBH (via Interflour) and Austal working in the region in recent years.
The 30-person government and business delegation, led by BRVT Deputy Secretary Nguyen Thi Yen and Vice Chairman Dang Minh Thong, will meet with Invest and Trade WA and Tourism WA, visit tourism and wine destinations in the South West, and explore opportunities in the vocational education and training sector with a visit to South Metropolitan TAFE.
The State Government signed a plan of action on cooperation with the BRVT Government in 2020, and will renew the partnership with a new memorandum of understanding and plan of action signed today.

As stated by Premier; State and Industry Development, Jobs and Trade Minister Roger Cook:
"It's a pleasure to welcome the B Ra-Vng Tu delegation to our shores for the first time, following my trade mission to Vietnam last year.
"The State Government understands the importance of our trading relationship with Vietnam and in particular the B Ra-Vng Tu region, supporting local jobs and our strong WA economy.
"That's why we opened the new Invest and Trade Office in Vietnam last year, and will continue to drive trade opportunities across the region."
