Baby sitter charged with child sexual offences

Child Abuse Squad detectives have charged a 23-year-old man over alleged sexual offences against several children whilst employed as a baby-sitter. It is alleged that the man advertised his services through an on-line babysitting service.

It is alleged between June and August 2021, the man indecently dealt with three children aged between 4 and 10. It is further alleged in August 2021, whilst baby-sitting a child under 12 months, the man sexually assaulted and took a series of photographs and videos of the child.

Child Abuse Squad detectives executed a search warrant on the man's Bennett Springs home on Sunday 22 August 2021, and it is alleged they located and seized a quantity of child exploitation material as well as a number of Gel blasters and edged weapons.

The 23-year-old man from Bennett Springs has been refused bail and is next due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on 20 September 2021, charged with:-

• One count of Sexual Penetration of a Child under 13 years;

• Five counts of Indecently Dealing with a Child under 13 years;

• Two Counts of Possessing Child Exploitation Material;

• One count of Producing Child Exploitation Material:

• Three counts of Possess Prohibited Weapon; and

• Two counts of Possess Controlled Weapon.
