Backing Territory's Agribusiness Sector

NT Government

The Lawler Labor Government is backing Territory businesses and workers in our growing agribusiness sector.

Through the Labor Government's Agriculture Value-Add Opportunities grant program 15 local businesses have shared in over $550,000. This investment is anticipated to unlock $2 million in private investment as the Labor Government continues to help Territory businesses grow.

These businesses were selected through a competitive grants process. Funding has been allocated towards projects with high potential to grow the Territory's agricultural sector, boost the economy and support Territorians through work opportunities.

Currently, the Northern Territory's agribusiness sector is worth $1.3 billion, but through grant programs like the Agribusiness Value-Add the Lawler Labor Government is growing this vital sector to $2 billion by 2030.

This round of grant recipients are from a broad range of sectors within the agribusiness industry including livestock, horticulture, field crops, bushfoods seafood, and forestry. Investment being injected into Darwin, Big Rivers, East Arnhem, Barkly and Central Australia Regions.

Some businesses and programs supported through the Territory Labor Government's grants include Humpty Doo Barramundi to expand their processing and packing system, Bunderra Cattle Co's project to convert to organic hay production at their Neutral Station Junction Station, and a fit-out for the Groote Aqua Aboriginal Corporation's seafood processing facility.
