Baillieu St West Wonthaggi Set for Road Renewal

Bass Coast Shire Council is set to begin roadworks along Baillieu Street West between Cameron Street and Drysdale Street in Wonthaggi, improving access and safety for motorists and pedestrians. The project is scheduled to start next Wednesday, 13 November 2024 and take approximately 5 weeks.

Project Overview

This renewal program is designed to upgrade aging infrastructure, providing residents with a modern, durable road surface and safe connections to the existing road network. The aim of this project is to create a safer and more reliable roadway. Traffic and pedestrian controls, including reduced speed limits, will ensure the safety of everyone during the project. The scope includes:

- Replacing existing pavement with reinforced concrete for increased resilience

- Constructing new concrete footpaths and drainage systems

- Upgrading and modifying drainage pits and pipes to improve the lifespan of community assets

What to Expect

Starting with site establishment next Wednesday 13 November including the erection of temporary fencing, works will include the stripping and clearing of existing pavement and drainage pits.

Access to properties along the construction route will be restricted temporarily, but our contractor will work closely with residents to provide advance notice of any works that might affect property access. Emergency vehicle access will remain available throughout the project.

Updates on the project will be regularly posted on the Council's Engage Bass Coast website: insert link.

This initiative reflects Council's commitment to maintaining and enhancing local infrastructure for a safer and more accessible Bass Coast community.
