Residents of Bajool, Upper Ulam, and Marmor won't have much longer to wait before their new Waste Transfer Station is complete, with an opening date set for Saturday April 6.
Chair of Council's Waste and Recycling Committee, Councillor Neil Fisher, said the facility will be a great resource for the community.
"This new transfer station will provide our residents in Bajool and surrounding areas with safe and convenient reliable waste and recycling services," said Cr Fisher.
"Residents will be able to dispose of green waste and separated recyclable materials for free at this brand new purpose built facility.
"The last collection of the interim service will take place on 31 March, with residents invited to start using the transfer station on April 6.
Divisional Councillor Drew Wickerson said an Open Day would be held next weekend.
"We're inviting the local community to join us for a chat over a free sausage sizzle to learn about how the facility works and get some handy hints on how to save money by recycling correctly."
The Waste Transfer Station is located on the outskirts of Bajool just off the Bajool/Port Alma Road.
