Regional Operations Group officers have charged a 14-year-old girl in relation to a series of incidents last night, Saturday 13 May 2023.
About 7:35pm a food delivery driver parked their vehicle outside a residence on Ghost Gum Boulevard in Banksia Grove to make a delivery. While they were making the delivery their vehicle, a Mitsubishi Lander, was stolen. A number of items left at the scene have been linked to a stealing incident at a bottle shop on Joondalup Drive, Banksia Grove which occurred about 6:25pm.
About 11:25pm the stolen Mitsubishi was involved in an incident at a service station on Warwick Road, Duncraig, where an amount fuel was stolen.
About 11:40pm officers on patrol observed the stolen vehicle being driven south on Kwinana Freeway, near the Narrows Bridge in Perth. The vehicle accelerated away from the officers, who did not attempt to pursue it. Police Air Wing officers were monitoring the vehicle at the time, and continued to monitor the vehicle as it continued to travel south on Kwinana Freeway. It will be alleged the vehicle was being driven in a reckless manner.
A stinger device was successfully deployed on Kwinana Freeway, under the Mandjoogoordap Drive overpass. The vehicle came to a stop about 1km north of the Lakes Road exit, where a 14-year-old girl was taken into custody without incident.
The 14-year-old Beechboro girl has since been charged with the following offences and was refused bail to appear in Perth Children's Court today, Sunday 14 May 2023:
- 2 x Stealing
- 1 x Steal Motor Vehicle
- 1 x Fail to Stop
- 1 x Reckless Driving (to evade police)
- 1 x No Authority to Drive
