Barkly and Queen Streets Footpath Upgrades Finished

Ararat Rural City Council has continued to build on its commitment to improving the municipality's infrastructure, with the completion of another key infrastructure project.

Works to the footpaths along Ararat's Barkly Street, between King St and Princes St, and Queen Street, between High Street and Barkly Street have now been completed.

The existing footpaths were removed, and new asphalt footpaths were constructed to improve pedestrian accessibility and safety.

The works were carried out by infrastructure construction and aggregate supplier Fulton Hogan, whose projects include asphalting for Spirit of Tasmania's New Quay in Geelong, and the construction of several new pathways as part of the Victorian State Government's Level Crossing Removal Project.

This project is supported by Council's Capital Works Program, which allocates $400k towards Council's Footpaths and Cycleways initiative, an initiative designed to prioritise improvements and maintenance of Ararat Rural City's footpaths and cycleways.

"Council is committed to continuing to invest in infrastructure renewal and improvements to deliver better and safer walkways for our residents," said Ararat Rural City Council CEO, Dr Tim Harrison.

"This project is part of a key initiative to enhance and preserve our pedestrian and cycling infrastructure to support the broader transportation network, create better connectivity across the municipality, and encourage residents to participate in active, outdoor activities."
