A 52-year-old woman has been charged with theft after an investigation by detectives in the Riverland region into the alleged theft of more than $250,000 from a local committee, according to SA Police.
Police will allege that the Barmera woman, who was an employee of the not-for-profit organisation, stole the money over a three-year period.
It will be alleged she carried out hundreds of illegal transactions and made purchases – including jewellery, make-up, home renovations and made other personal purchases - with the money.
The woman has been granted bail and is expected to appear in the Berri Magistrates Court on 22 January 2018.
Police inquiries are continuing into the matter.
