Battle For Australia Commemorated at Shrine of Remembrance

Four Victorian school students have been selected to take on the roles of four Australian Service personnel, who served with the Royal Australian Navy during 'War in the Pacific'. The students will present from prepared historically accurate scripts, each of approximately 1 minute duration.

The annual 'Battle for Australia' Commemoration is expected to attract more than 700 students to the Shrine on Wednesday, 4 September at 11.00am.

The 'Battle for Australia' ceremony, a National Day of Commemoration, marks the end of 'War in the Pacific' 1945.

Background: During War in the Pacific, particularly the dark and desperate years of 1942-1944, Australians and the Nation's allies selflessly fought fierce land, air and sea battles, thousands of whom paid the ultimate sacrifice.
