Elsternwick Park Nature Reserve and Red Bluff Cliffs were windy but perfect spots for a visit yesterday by the Hon Sussan Ley MP, Minister for the Environment to experience Bayside's natural environment and plan how Council and the Australian Government can work together to protect and enhance it.
The Minister's visit was hosted by Tim Wilson MP, Member for Goldstein and Bayside Mayor Cr Laurence Evans OAM to advocate for Australian Government support for local coastal erosion initiatives as well as the transformation of Elsternwick Park Nature Reserve.
Council is seeking funding support for new wetlands at the nature reserve which will have significant water quality/management benefits to Bayside and the wider region. This comes on the back of a recent $1 million Australian Government Local Roads and Infrastructure Grant for works at the Reserve as a result of Council's advocacy.
The Mayor also took the opportunity to showcase Bayside's adoption of electrical vehicles
Council is committed to advocating on behalf of our community with the Victorian and Australian Governments on the issues that matter to Bayside.
