Major changes to the state Hairdressers Award commence on 1 January 2025, as this WA award has been updated by the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission. The changes apply to employers and employees in the state industrial relations system.
On 1 January 2025 the coverage of the Hairdressers Award will be extended to the beauty industry as well as hairdressing. State system employers and employees in the beauty industry will be covered by a WA award for the first time. To reflect the expansion of coverage, the award will be renamed the Hair and Beauty Industry (WA) Award.
Significant updates to the award provisions including new classifications and updates to working hours arrangements will also come into effect on this date.
