Beenleigh Emergency Services Hub Nears Key Milestone

JOINT STATEMENT
  • The Queensland Police Service and the Queensland Ambulance Service have acquired a large parcel of land in Beenleigh Central.
  • The site has been earmarked for the future construction of new Ambulance Service and Queensland Police Service facilities.

The Queensland Police Service and the Queensland Ambulance Service have acquired land in Beenleigh for the future establishment of a joint emergency services hub featuring new purpose-built ambulance and police facilities.

The 12,425 m2 site at 45 York Street, Beenleigh, was acquired in June 2024, in a partnership between the Queensland Ambulance Service and the Queensland Police Service to meet future infrastructure needs.

It's important that planning and contingency work happen now so that future growth in ambulance and police personnel and resourcing can be accommodated.

For example, as a result of the biggest investment in police resourcing in more than three decades, an investment that will deliver almost 3,000 extra police, the Queensland Police Service is currently undertaking the biggest recruitment campaign in the Service's history.

In addition, the population of the Beenleigh area is growing rapidly and enhanced police and ambulance services will be needed in the future.

The acquisition of the Beenleigh site is a key element in planning for that future growth in population and ambulance and police personnel.

As stated by the Minister for Health, Mental Health and Ambulance Services and Minister for Women Shannon Fentiman:

"We know our hardworking frontline heroes have seen record demand across the state, particularly in the South East.

"As the Beenleigh and surrounding communities continue to grow, it's important we plan for their future health service needs.

"Mel McMahon understands what her community needs and has fought hard to get this project off the ground.

"It's why the Miles Government is taking action to ensure the next generation continues to receive world-class services."

As stated by the Minister for Police and Community Safety, Mark Ryan:

"The Miles Government is committed to providing Queenslanders in every corner of our state with the frontline services needed to support community safety.

"The biggest investment in police personnel in more than 30 years means we need to invest in the infrastructure and resources our growing Queensland police service will need.

"The acquisition of the Beenleigh site is a sensible and prudent initiative that will ensure we can cater for future growth."

As stated by Member for Macalister Mel McMahon:

"Beenleigh has a big and bright future and to ensure that our growing community remains safe and healthy I am committed to making sure our emergency services have the best possible infrastructure and facilities to do that.

"Having a combined emergency services hub will provide efficiencies that will benefit both services and the community more broadly."

As stated by Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Commissioner Craig Emery:

"Our local officers do a tremendous job providing care to Beenleigh and surrounding communities.

"Once complete, this additional ambulance station in Beenleigh Central will provide even greater service and support to the community.

"I look forward to the new Beenleigh Ambulance Station coming online."
