With National Water Week serving as a timely reminder, Rockhampton Regional Council is encouraging residents to value our local water resources.
To highlight the essential role of water in communities Water Councillor Edward Oram encouraged everyone to make informed choices with their water usage.
"We all need access to clean, useable water as it's essential for our everyday lives," Cr Oram said.
"But we must remember water is also a precious resource, so it's crucial for everyone to understand their part in protecting our water supply in the Fitzroy River and Mount Morgan Dam.
"Everyone, from residents, businesses, and community organisations can all implement simple steps to adopt water-saving practices that also helps save money."
Environmental Sustainability Councillor Elliot Hilse said the theme of the week was "Accelerating Action", to encourage everyone to make water wise choices to protect and preserve this vital resource.
"Whether it's using water efficient appliances, watering your garden outside the heat of the day or turning the tap off when brushing your teeth, simple steps like this make a big difference," Cr Hilse said.
"Together let's make wise use of our water resources for current and future generations."
In recognition of National Water Week, Fitzroy River Water is holding a barrage open day on Saturday 23 November.
The day will include guided tours of the barrage plus educational demonstrations and displays.
