Works on the Bellambi, Coledale and Woonona Surf Life Saving Clubs will begin early next week with the clubs receiving upgrades to the existing facilities.
Works on these projects are expected to be completed by September 2020, depending on weather conditions.
Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said that the works would improve existing infrastructure that had reached the end of their serviceable life and needed attention.
"The Coledale Surf Life Saving Club works will include the complete replacement of all roof sheeting, the removal and replacement of eave sheeting as well as new guttering.
"The Woonona Surf Life Saving Club will also receive a new roof to replace the existing structure that has been degraded by harsh environmental conditions. Council will also replace the timber windows, install a new pathway to improve access and upgrade the male amenities."
The Woonona Surf Life Saving Club upgrades continue earlier work completed by Council this year that improved the female amenities.
"The Bellambi Surf Life Saving Club public amenities will also be upgraded to improve accessibility. The work will include upgrades such as a new roof, gutters and eaves.
"It's important that Council ensures its buildings are fit for purpose. Regular maintenance and upgrades like these help us ensure that both clubs are ready to be used by our Lifeguards in time for the surf season."
