Flood gates and flood-relief gates

The Lower Macleay River is experiencing normal tidal movements and conditions again and the crossover flood gates at Belmore River and Kinchela Creek have been reopened.

The crossover gates are open in normal conditions to allow natural tides along the main channel.

These gates were closed before the recent flooding as this helps control water levels in the main river and prevents water entering the floodplain in minor flood events.
