Benalla Rural City Council is excited to announce a new opportunity for local women to learn business skills and grow their confidence in 2025.
Partnering with Global Sisters Australia, this program offers free workshops, mentoring, and support to help women start or improve a business. Whether you're just starting out or already have a business, there's something here to help you succeed.
This initiative is part of a trial for a business learning hub in Benalla, with face-to-face sessions hosted by the Council at Ruby Blue Café, 67 Nunn Street, Benalla, and lots of online support from the expert team at Global Sisters.
The Global Sisters program begins with online workshops on 21 January 2025, followed by the first "My Big Idea" workshop on Thursday, 6 February, from midday to 2pm—available online or in person. For those starting out in business and ready to take a deeper dive, the "Sister School" program will run over four Thursdays from 13 February to 6 March (9.30am to 3pm), offering practical help to bring your business ideas to life.
Global Sisters, a not-for-profit organisation, is focused on helping women achieve financial independence. Since it began, Global Sisters has supported almost 7,000 women across Australia and helped bring in millions of dollars' worth of practical aid for participants. The program welcomes all women—whether you're a solo mum, over 50, a carer, new to Australia, or even just curious about starting a business but not sure where to begin.
Mayor Cr Bernie Hearn said this collaboration was a welcoming space for local women.
"These programs are tailored to help women at every stage of their business journey, Cr Hearn said. From brainstorming ideas at the 'My Big Idea' sessions or tackling bigger challenges in the 'Sister School' program to shorter workshops on finding customers or managing a business, there's something for you. Best of all, it's free. No matter your background, you'll have the tools and support you need to take that next step."
By getting involved, participants can learn skills that will help with financial stability, build self-confidence, and provide a real chance to improve day-to-day life. The program also brings a wide range of health and wellbeing benefits, including reduced stress, better social connections, and a positive outlook for the future.
