The 95 Express Lanes are now connecting even more road users, with a new access ramp opening at Opitz Boulevard, in Woodbridge, Virginia.
The 95 Express Lanes are in one of the United States' busiest corridors, connecting residents and businesses throughout the Greater Washington Area.
The new Opitz Boulevard ramp, that opened to traffic overnight on 14 November, makes it easier for drivers going to and from Prince William County to access the 95 Express Lanes. The fast-growing Prince William County is home to major employers, including the Sentara Medical Center and the Potomac Mills. This new access point will help ease congestion on local roads and provide quicker, more reliable journeys for both 95 Express Lanes users and the wider community.
This USD70million project was fully funded by Transurban and was delivered in partnership with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
"The Opitz Boulevard Project is a great example of Transurban's commitment to improving mobility, in collaboration with our partners at VDOT," said Beau Memory, President, Transurban North America. "In my experience, these projects only come to fruition through collaboration. And from D.C. to Fredericksburg, we have worked with the Commonwealth to improve transportation infrastructure and expand travel choice in Northern Virginia."
Project works included adding a reversible, south-facing ramp directly linking with the 95 Express Lanes. Rehabilitation and widening of the Opitz Boulevard Bridge, including adding new sidewalk connections for cyclists and pedestrians, were also part of the works.
