Bayside Council is supporting residents who want to choose cycling as a healthier and more sustainable transportation alternative, holding a bicycle tune-up session and a bicycle maintenance workshop in Mascot.
The Bicycle Check-Up & Tune Station is being held on Wednesday 12 February, and offers residents a free 25-minute check-up and service by an experienced bike mechanic.
This includes a quick check over of tyres, gears and brakes, and advice on whether more complex adjustments or repairs are needed, along with the cost. The mechanics may be able to fix small issues on the spot.
Held at Mascot Library on Saturday 15 February, the Bicycle Maintenance & Repair Workshop is a 2.5 hour session teaching residents how to care for their bike.
Residents will be able to learn how to conduct a safety check, built a bike care toolkit, keep their bike clean and lubricated, remove and reinstall wheels and tyres, fix a flat tyre, and check break wear and function.
These sessions are open to Bayside residents of all levels of cycling experience - whether they are seasoned cyclists, or are looking to start.
The workshop is open to residents aged 14 years or older. Children aged 16 years and under need to be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
