Biden said "free Iran" in a state of wackiness: Raisi

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi hit back at U.S. President Joe Biden's "Don’t worry, we’re gonna free Iran" comment, saying “that he might have talked in a state of wackiness.”

It was not clear if Biden's comments reflect anything discussed during intelligence briefings or were just emotional reaction in the light of what is happening in Iran.

"Iran was freed 43 years ago and stands strong not to fall to your slavery. Not be your milking cow," Raisi told a pro-government rally on the 43rd anniversary of the takeover of the U.S. embassy in Iran and the Islamic revolution, which brought the current clerical government to power.

Iran’s state-run television carried live coverage Friday of state-supported rallies across the country marking the event, with banners saying, "National Day of Fighting Global Arrogance," while songs called for "Death to America" and schoolchildren carried banners in support of the seizure of the U.S. embassy.

In 1979, radical students cemented Iran's Islamic Revolution by storming the U.S. Embassy soon after the fall of the U.S.-backed Shah, and they took hostage 52 Americans who were held there for 444 days.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Netanyahu, who had long sought to launch preemptive strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities, has just won a decisive victory to retake the premiership soon.

Time will tell if Biden’s comments were intelligence slip but Israel and the U.S. would hardly find an opportunity better than this to make the move as Iran’s bloody crackdown on the most widespread anti-regime protests and its increasing role in Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine are uniting the world against the Islamic Republic.
