Bike Parking Made Easy in New Locations

Sunshine Coast Council

Parking in Maroochydore just got easier with a new BikeHub offering new spaces to park your wheels.

This initiative is part of Sunshine Coast Council's ThinkChange program, which aims to support sustainable travel choices and enhance our community's cycling experience.

Sunshine Coast Council Division 8 Councillor Taylor Bunnag said Council was pleased the BikeHub would offer more bike parking facilities in Maroochydore.

"The BikeHub is in response to a longstanding number of customer enquiries seeking bicycle parking near the Duporth Avenue entrance to the Big Top Shopping Centre," Cr Bunnag said.

"This facility makes the most of the bike parking space without affecting pedestrian amenity and accessibility.

"It also reflects the shared zone status of the Duporth roadway section.

"This is a significant step towards promoting sustainable travel and enhancing the overall urban experience in Maroochydore.

"The BikeHub features parking for up to 10 bikes or scooters and smart camera monitoring to enable us to accurately evaluate its use during the trial period.

"We encourage everyone to take advantage of this new free facility and provide us with their feedback."
