Binghamton Pharmacy Joins Forces with SUNY Suffolk

Binghamton University

Binghamton University's School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences has formed a new partnership with SUNY Suffolk.

On Nov. 21, the two schools met at the Michael J. Grant Campus in Brentwood, N.Y., for a signing event to celebrate their new venture.

The SUNY Suffolk partnership allows their students to graduate with an associate degree and then transfer directly into Binghamton's doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) program. The agreement includes up to five seats per academic year. After the five reserved seats are filled, Suffolk students may still apply and admission will be considered.

SOPPS's Dean and Distinguished SUNY Professor Kanneboyina Nagaraju shared his excitement regarding this new agreement.

"This partnership will provide a clear pathway and support necessary to transition SCCC students who have completed prerequisites to the doctor of pharmacy program at the Binghamton University School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences," Nagaraju said.

President of Suffolk County Community College Edward Bonahue also expressed his enthusiasm for the future and what this means for both institutions moving forward.

"This agreement represents a significant step forward in providing community college students with a clear pathway forward to advanced degrees in pharmacy," Bonahue said. "This partnership will help to build a pipeline of highly trained professionals who are well prepared to meet the growing demand for highly educated healthcare professionals. We are proud to work alongside Binghamton University to make these dream careers a reality for our graduates."

The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to providing accessible, high-quality education and preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals. It also strengthens the connection between higher education institutions in New York state to support the growing demand for skilled pharmacists.
