A Wollongong woman's birthday celebration extended well beyond her special day, thanks to a lottery ticket gifted by her brother that netted her a big win in the Saturday Lotto.
Saturday Lotto draw 4509, drawn Saturday 5 October 2024 saw a remarkable distribution of the jackpot among 13 winners nationwide, including four winners each from Queensland and Victoria, two from New South Wales, and one each from Tasmania, South Australia, and Western Australia. Each lucky ticketholder secured $401,209.07, an equal slice of the $5 million top prize.
As the winning entry was not registered to a player card, lotto officials had no way of notifying the winning woman of her win and had to wait for her to check her ticket and come forward.
“I’m very excited!” the Dapto local cheered when a lotto official confirmed her division one win.
“It’s the biggest blessing we could have ever received, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
“I got the ticket as a birthday gift from my brother. He gave me a little lottery bundle and the winning ticket was in it!
“I’ll definitely be getting him something as a thank you. It’s the best birthday gift ever!
“It’s funny because my husband and I play each week using the same marked numbers each time but this one that my brother got me was just a random QuickPick.
“We usually win something like $10 to $40. Once we won $400, but that seems like nothing compared to this!
“We’re so grateful. It helps out so much in these times.
“Thank you so much. We’re in the midst of some major life changes, so this was just a blessing.”
The winning entry was purchased at newsXpress Dapto, Shop G106, Dapto Mall, Princes Highway & Moombara Street, Dapto.
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4509 on 5 October 2024 were 13, 30, 18, 24, 27 and 15, while the supplementary numbers were 41 and 26.
Across Australia, there were 13 division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4509 – four each in Queensland and Victoria, two in New South Wales, and one each in Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia.
