Council is seeking $600,000 from the Federal Government's Black Spot program to improve road safety at 8 high-use roundabouts:

- Hardy Road / Tarcoola Steet / Adonis Street, Mount Sheridan
- Mona Street / Woodward Street / Keirle Avenue / Heavey Crescent, Whitfield
- Forest Gardens Blvd / Sawpit Street / Madigans Drive, Mount Sheridan
- Forest Gardens Blvd / George Cannon Drive, Mount Sheridan
- Fig Tree Drive / Red Peak Blvd, Caravonica
- Daphne Street / Harvey Road, Redlynch
- Greenslopes Street / Arthur Street, Cairns North
The improvement works mirror similar upgrades throughout the city that allow cyclists to 'take the lane'.
