During the meeting, Minister Blair reinforced Canada's commitment to strengthen our countries' bilateral relationship. Examples include our increasing focus on the Baltic Sea in line with NATO's Regional Plans, and our presence in Latvia, through the Canadian-led NATO Multinational Brigade Latvia, which includes Poland as a member.

The Minister highlighted our countries' joint efforts in providing military assistance to Ukraine in the fight against Russia's illegal and unjustifiable war. Approximately 50 Canadian Armed Forces members are currently deployed to Brzeg and Wrocław to provide combat engineer training to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Canada has also participated in Polish-led medical training for the AFU since March 2023.
