Blair Welcomes New DND/CAF Ombudsperson

Today, the Minister of National Defence, the Honourable Bill Blair, welcomed the appointment of the new National Defence and Canadian Armed Forces Ombudsperson, Mario Baril, for a term of five years.

Minister Blair thanks Robyn Hynes for the work she has accomplished since accepting the role as the Interim Ombudsperson of the National Defence and Canadian Armed Forces Ombudsperson Office, in July 2024.

The Office of the Ombudsperson was created in 1998 as an independent organization within the Department of National Defence (DND) and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). Its mandate is to investigate complaints and serve as a neutral third party on matters related to DND and the CAF by providing information, referrals, and education for the employees of the Department and the members of the CAF.
