Bland Shire Council Partners with Riverina Regional Library to Extend Mobile Library Service

Bland Shire Council has announced a new partnership with Riverina Regional Library to enhance access to library services for residents in four of its village communities.

This collaboration will see the extension of the mobile library service to Ungarie, Weethalle, Tallimba and Barmedman, bringing a wealth of resources and opportunities directly to village residents.

Starting 1 July, the Riverina Regional Library's mobile library will begin regular visits to the four villages, providing residents with convenient access to books, digital resources, and educational programs. This initiative reflects the Council's commitment to promoting literacy, learning, and community engagement.

"We are excited to partner with Riverina Regional Library to extend the reach of our library services," Bland Shire Mayor, Councillor Brian Monaghan said.

"This mobile library will serve as a vital resource, especially for our village communities, fostering a love of reading and lifelong learning among residents of all ages."

The mobile library will offer a wide range of services, including:

  • A diverse collection of books for all ages and interests.
  • Access to digital resources such as e-books and audiobooks.
  • Educational programs and workshops.
  • Internet access and computing facilities.
  • Friendly and knowledgeable staff to assist with research and information needs.

"This partnership with Riverina Regional Library allows us to reach more people, support education, and strengthen community connections," Bland Shire Council's Director of Corporate and Community Services, Alison Balind said.

The mobile library service will follow a rotating schedule, visiting different villages within Bland Shire at local public schools on a regular basis. While the service will be located near the schools, it is open to all residents within those communities where the Mobile Library will visit.

Starting on 1 July, the service will visit Ungarie from 10am to 11.15am and Weethalle from 1pm to 2.15pm every second Monday and come to Barmedman from 9.30am until 11am and Tallimba from 12.45pm until 2.15pm every fourth Friday. The first services to Tallimba and Barmedman will be on 19 July.

Riverina Regional Library and Bland Shire Library will be providing some free giveaways at each village to celebrate the mobile library's inaugural visit.

This initiative is part of Bland Shire Council's ongoing efforts to improve community services and enhance the quality of life for its residents.
