Blinken Discusses Issues With UAE's Al Nahyan 9 November

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke today with United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Secretary reaffirmed the United States' continued commitment to bring the war in Gaza to an end as quickly as possible. The Secretary discussed with the Foreign Minister efforts to secure the release of hostages, increase sustainable assistance, and provide a path forward that allows Palestinians in Gaza to rebuild their lives and advance governance, security and reconstruction. They also discussed efforts to achieve a diplomatic resolution in Lebanon that allows civilians on both sides of the Blue Line to return to their homes.

On Sudan, the Secretary stressed the importance of expanding humanitarian access, stopping the fighting, and supporting a political process to form a civilian government. The Secretary thanked the Foreign Minister for the UAE's provision of humanitarian aid for both Gaza and Lebanon and its continued role advancing peace and stability in the region.
