Blinken Discusses Ties With Egyptian FM Abdelatty

As stated by Spokesperson Matthew Miller:

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty today to discuss the situation in the Middle East. The Secretary emphasized the urgency of bringing the war in Gaza to an end, securing the release of all hostages, and increasing the delivery of humanitarian assistance. The Secretary thanked the Foreign Minister for Egypt's continuing efforts to secure the release of the hostages. He also thanked him for the significant role Egypt has played in efforts to achieve an end to the conflict in Sudan, protect civilians, increase humanitarian aid, and advance a political transition to a civilian government.

On Lebanon, the Secretary and Foreign Minister discussed efforts to promote a diplomatic resolution that would enable civilians to return to their homes with safety and security. The Secretary underscored the need for Lebanese leaders to swiftly address the country's presidential vacancy.
