Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken will travel to New York City September 23-27 to participate in the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week.
While in New York City, the Secretary will deliver remarks at the UN Summit of the Future and participate in a range of events on issues of importance to the American people. The Secretary will join the UN Security Council High-Level Briefing on Ukraine to underscore how Russia's premeditated war of aggression against Ukraine represents a fundamental violation of the UN Charter and undermines a stable and open international system. In addition, Secretary Blinken will participate in a summit of the Global Coalition to Address Synthetic Drug Threats. The Secretary established this Coalition last year to drive international action to disrupt the global supply chain of illicit fentanyl and other synthetic drugs.
Secretary Blinken will also hold meetings with UN officials and foreign counterparts where he will advance U.S. goals in a number of areas, including working together to address conflict and crises, revitalizing an overstretched UN-led humanitarian system, and creating a more inclusive and effective international system.
