Blinken Meets Kuwaiti FM Al-Yahya

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met today with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya. The Secretary and Foreign Minister welcomed the beginning of the U.S.-Kuwait Strategic Dialogue, which will advance robust bilateral engagement between the two countries in a number of fields. They discussed advancing the security and economic partnership between our two countries to expand cooperation on issues such as emerging technology, strategic investments, and food security. The Secretary and Foreign Minister reaffirmed the enduring strategic partnership to promote peace and stability in the region and deepen security and economic cooperation between the United States and Kuwait.

The Secretary and Foreign Minister discussed the need to reach a ceasefire and hostage release deal in Gaza. They also highlighted the need to reach a diplomatic resolution to the conflict in northern Israel and southern Lebanon that ensures citizens on both sides of the border can return to their homes. The Secretary thanked the Foreign Minister for Kuwait's continued role in getting humanitarian assistance into Gaza and Sudan and discussed measures to ensure more humanitarian aid reaches those in need.
