Blinken Meets Vietnamese PM Pham Minh Chinh

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh today in Hanoi to express his deepest condolences for the loss of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Secretary Blinken and Prime Minister Chinh welcomed the progress the United States and Vietnam have made together in implementing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that the General Secretary and President Biden announced in September 2023. The Secretary reaffirmed the United States' commitment to working with Vietnam to advance our shared vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific region and supporting a strong, independent, prosperous, and resilient Vietnam.
