Blinken Speaks With Jordan's FM Safadi 7 August

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke today with Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi to discuss efforts to de-escalate regional tensions. The Secretary stressed the urgent need to reach an immediate ceasefire in Gaza that would secure the release of hostages, allow a surge of humanitarian assistance, alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, and create the conditions for broader stability. He emphasized the importance of all parties taking steps to reduce tensions and avoid further escalation. Secretary Blinken underscored unwavering U.S. support to Jordan and thanked the Kingdom for its leadership in providing life-saving humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians and in promoting regional peace and security.
